Abstract
Burn injuries represent a smaller proportion of all injuries, but are among the most difficult to care for. While minor and superficial burns heal spontaneously within a reasonable amount of time, larger and deeper burns require careful surgical planning, as they have a high rate of possible complications. For larger burns, surgical debridement with removal of burned tissue and coverage with skin graft is the gold standard. A multidisciplinary approach that includes medical care, immediate rehabilitation, and nutritional and psychological support enables the best treatment outcome and early integration into the patient’s normal life.
