Abstract

Adaptive sports have been an integral part of rehabilitation for military veterans. In this chapter, we discuss the military veteran and sequelae from combat injury that are unique to this population and what those medical considerations mean when planning and providing adaptive sports programs for veterans. We review current programs, evaluate the existing research on this topic, identify key considerations and medical outcomes for veterans, and recognize areas for future research on this topic.
