Verse Fuelled by an insatiable greed of infinites And theft from faraway lands, The Enlightened take what they like And leave darkness behind.
Verse
Verse Breaking up systems, exploiting sciences, Turning others’ knowledge into weapons of conquest: Gunpowder from the Chinese Navigation, mathematics, chemistry from the Middle East.
Verse
Verse And, once done with their mischiefs, They put on nice clothes, Go to an opera or a museum, To celebrate Civilisation and Progress.
