Abstract
The rising global temperatures have put forth various challenges for the economies of developing countries like India. Fundamental requirement for economic development is electricity. Energy generation from conventional sources like fossil fuels has unfavourable environmental impacts, hence opting for sustainable power generation will lead to economic and environment viability. As the sustainability factor is involved, clean sources of energy like solar become essential. This paper aims to study the solar energy scenario in India by looking into the potential, the usage across various sectors like rooftop solar, solar thermal applications and also the targets set by the government. The study also looks into the incentives and policies for implementing and achieving the national target.
