Abstract
This chapter introduces the main concept underpinning the volume: digital displacement. First, it defines the concept of embodied arts practice and digital displacement, understood in the context of the pivot to remote teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. Next, it discusses how the term was conceived and how it developed through a collaboration between the editors and the contributors of this volume. Finally, the chapter presents a concise overview of the structure of the book, as well as a brief synopsis of its ten chapters.
