Abstract

Cleft 8 is the most lateral of rare clefts. It splits the lateral canthus of the palpebral slant. It can be associated with epibulbar choristoma, craniofacial microsomia or its counterpart, cleft 6a. When it is isolated, it is named coloboma, mainly in the ophthalmologic literature. The skeletal component goes through the lateral orbital wall around the level of the fronto zygomatic suture. We observed, in our series 18 cases and found 42 cases reported in the literature.
