Abstract

In this chapter, I analyze the development of constitutional law in the nineteenth century, examining the legal and political institutions of the liberal state, and highlighting the different paths undertaken by the Anglo-American experience (► Sects. 3.2 and 3.3) and European countries (► Sects. 3.4 and 3.5).
