Abstract

Two case studies are presented to obtain an in-depth appreciation of the analytic issues covered so far. The first one provides a real-life concept of controlling cashflow. It starts with a business experiencing declining cashflow and how it designed an audit to uncover impediments to economic efficiency. Post audit analytics in this case study involves forecasting using regression. The second case study involves a statistical audit that analyzes claims from a medical insurance benefits program. Also covered is a brief overview of methods to identify and recover improper payments. To maximize the benefit of Case Study 1, download the small business/learning version Auditmetrics V6.5. This would require Microsoft Windows 10 or 11. Case Study 2 analysis is web based, so both Windows and Apple users can complete the exercise. Both case studies are designed to give the reader hands-on experience in the implementation of the statistical audit process.
