Failed Fracture Fixation

Abstract

Proximal tibial fractures have been difficult to treat. Treatment with intramedullary nailing is an attractive option as it represents minimal invasive surgery with skin incisions remote from the fracture site. Unfortunately, until lately, the results of treatment were not satisfactorily, associated with a high rate of malalignment and implant failure. Herein, we examine the causes of failure and how to revise failed cases providing some tips and tricks.
