Abstract

In this chapter, three topics are discussed: the attitude of the Greens toward democracy, a comparison of the Greens with the populists is made, and the criticism of the Green ideology is presented. Regarding democracy, the question arises whether the threat of apocalyptic scenarios if an active environmentalist policy is not chosen does not limit the right of citizens to political choice and whether it does not contain implicit indications of authoritarianism. Regarding the comparison between the Greens and the populists, we try to answer the question: why the Greens do not have the success of the populists in terms of electoral results. Regarding the criticisms suffered by the Green ideology, the attention is focused on the accusations of intellectual incoherence, scientific unreliability, and the difficulties to practically implement Green policies.
