Abstract
This chapter highlights the main take-aways from this study on greening trade remedies. It identified that trade remedies may play a dual role in greening world trade, albeit to a limited extent. First, the use of trade remedies should be restricted or prevented on environmentally friendly goods. Second, environmental costs of production should be considered and calculated where possible in the determination of the level of trade remedy duties. Given the limitations of the trade remedy rules to fully become an instrument of greening trade, novel mechanisms inspired by the trade remedy instruments can be developed to remedy environmental injury.
