Abstract

The systematic examination of the knee is outlined in this chapter in a clear and simple manner with detailed illustrations, diagrams and photographs. Topics covered include inspection and palpation of the knee with discussions on gait, range of movement, fluid in the knee and the patellofemoral joint. Other topics include testing stability of the knee, cruciate ligaments, joint tenderness and McMurray’s test. The seated lumbar extension (SLE) test for anterior cruciate laxity is also outlined in detail.
