Abstract
This chapter covers examination for specific conditions relating to the foot and ankle. Osteoarthritis of the ankle, including symptoms, signs and treatment is covered in a highly illustrated dot-point format. Diabetic foot problems including peripheral neuropathy, peripheral arterial disease and amputation are discussed. Conditions relating to the hindfoot, such as talipes equinovarus (CTEV), metatarsus adductus, talipes calcaneovalgus and Achilles tendinitis and Achilles tendon rupture are covered in detail. Heel pain, insertional Achilles tendinitis, osteochondritis dissecans of the talus, tarsal tunnel syndrome and sinus tarsi syndrome are also discussed. Sections on conditions relating to the midfoot, forefoot and toe deformities are also included in the chapter.
