Abstract

The chapter begins with a review of how the Marxist tradition has been used in adult education scholarship. It provides a general framework for, or tenets of, a Marxist pedagogical practice. In order to make these tenets more concrete and contemporary, the chapter looks outside of academia to the educational work of Marxists in revolutionary organizations actively engaged in the theory and practice of revolutionary Marxist pedagogy. Finally, and drawing from examples of revolutionary organizations and militants, it outlines a Marxist analysis of the main contours of contemporary capitalism and details the implications of this for revolutionary adult education practice today.
