Controversies in Thyroid Nodules and Differentiated Thyroid Cancer

Abstract

Non-invasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary-like features (NIFT-P) is a predominantly non-invasive neoplasm arising from thyroid follicular cells showing follicular growth pattern with nuclear features of papillary thyroid carcinoma. NIFT-P has an excellent long-term prognosis, although controversy exists regarding histopathologic diagnosis and surveillance protocols. This chapter highlights the diagnosis, treatment and postoperative management of NIFT-P.
