Abstract

The article considers the peculiarities of strengthening food security as an instrument of the realization of the agricultural competitiveness of enterprises. The food security level in Ukraine is inspected following the domestic system of parameters and international methodologies. The analysis of the food security level in Ukraine by the Global Food Security Index shows that it lags much behind not only leading countries but neighboring countries as well. The situation requires consideration of not only existing but also promising challenges and threats to the maintenance of food security. In the future, this will increase the competitiveness of agricultural enterprises in the global food market. The structural and functional parameters of the development of agriculture and its subjects are outlined, and strategic priorities of the State policy on the realization of competitiveness of agrarian enterprises are defined. The article proposes tools for strengthening food security based on compliance with the requirements of the principles of ensuring food security, including self-sufficiency, multifunctionality, social justice, independence, stability, balance, and rationality. The need to harmonize the parameters of the development of agricultural enterprises is justified using the economic and socio-ecological components of strengthening food security. To strengthen food security, it is proposed to strengthen such components as physical accessibility and economic accessibility of food, as they guarantee the quality and safety of agriculture, and it is also worth paying attention to improving natural resources and sustainability. The article proves that the implementation of the proposed priorities to ensure competitive agricultural enterprises is the key to strengthening food security in the system of economic security of Ukraine.
