Abstract

Muscle-kidney crosstalk in acute kidney injury represents a bidirectional axis which includes rhabdomyolysis with its characteristic leakage of nephrotoxic intracellular compounds, as well as the deleterious effects of acute kidney injury on muscle structure and metabolism.
