Abstract
Mesh threads (or sometimes referred to as volume, braided or Boost threads) stimulate collagen to such a high degree that they can be utilized in place of fillers. They can be placed in the undereye region, nasolabial fold, marionette lines, chin, brow bone, temple, and any other areas of the face where filler might be utilized. Unlike filler, however, the threads promote skin tightening as well so produce a more natural rather than plumped up appearance. Mesh threads are easier to insert than barbed threads but still require a special technique to insert comfortably. This chapter will outline step by step the technique required for proper insertion of mesh threads. Tips and tricks that help ease the insertion of the mesh threads safely will be provided. An Instructional Video showing thread procedures on a patient is included with the textbook that provides a demonstration of the technique. A list of recommended supplies is also provided; however, the practitioner may add or substitute for personal preference. Likewise, this outline serves as a reference only and should not be utilized as the sole means to learn how to perform the procedure. It is still necessary to receive in-person hands-on training.
