Abstract
Nasolabial folds are usually treated with fillers, however, with the advent of mesh PDO threads, a more natural remedy is now available. Mesh threads inserted into the nasolabial fold can stimulate enough collagen to decrease the depth of the fold as well as tighten the skin. This procedure using mesh or braided threads is certainly helpful for patients with mildly deep nasolabial folds. It is even more valuable when used concomitantly with barbed thread lift for cheeks and jowls. For patients with significant prolapse of cheeks requiring lift with barbed threads, volumization of the nasolabial fold with mesh threads is necessary for patient satisfaction. Usually doing thread lift on the cheeks alone with barbed threads is not enough to diminish the nasolabial fold in these patients. Thus the mesh threads for nasolabial folds is a valuable tool to ensure patient satisfaction. This chapter will outline the steps for performing this procedure. It includes an illustration of the pattern of placement of the threads. Tips on technique and methods to avoid complications are described. An Instructional Video showing thread procedures performed on a patient is also included with this textbook and provides a demonstration of this procedure.
