Abstract
Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) is a research-based, three-tiered, system-wide intervention designed to promote learning outcomes and prevent and decrease aberrant behaviors (Sugai & Horner, 2006). PBIS is a framework rather than a formal curriculum. By implementing PBIS strategies, classroom or school-wide systems can increase the focus on effective and preventative behavioral interventions. This chapter provides an overview of the history of PBIS along with recommended strategies for implementation.
