Zusammenfassung
In dieser Einführung wird der Kontext der Sektion „Neuartigen Waren“ kurz beschrieben und eine Einschätzung ihrer Relevanz für die Idee des Romans als Netzwerk gegeben. Die Einleitung zielt darauf ab, die Verflechtung des Romans als noch immer prestigeträchtige und sichtbare Ware in einer zunehmend komplexen und globalen Buchbranche zu unterstreichen. In dem kurzen Kapitel werden sowohl die Chancen als auch die Herausforderungen und blinden Flecken skizziert, die durch die vorliegende Untersuchung aufgezeigt werden. Wir hoffen, dass deutlich wird, dass die wissenschaftliche Arbeit aus der Buchwissenschaft und aus den Publishing Studies für die Debatten um den Roman und die Literatur heute viel zu bieten hat.
