Abstract
Business owners and entrepreneurs in the climate space face particular challenges that give them unique insights into the climate crisis. The employers and business owners represented here showcase the difficulty of launching technology companies founded on industrial research, the struggles of administering federal funds and grant funds, in addition to serving the join needs of society with their investors. Half of the people in this chapter are women, although only 16% of business leaders in the United States are women. They describe their experiences as women in highly technical fields, especially as many of them launched their careers during the nascent days of women’s acceptance into higher education. Women in the industry are aware of this imbalance. Resultingly, they experience imposter syndrome more often than the male entrepreneurs here were often hesitant to speak publicly about their experiences for fear of professional repercussions or being easily identifiable as the only woman in their field.
