Abstract
The future of transportation may be flying cars at the end of our children’s lifetimes. Even if that is not achieved, projections show that children born in the late 2020s will likely never fill up a vehicle with gas. Electric cars and other advanced alternative fuels increase in prevalence each day. There are construction jobs, engineering jobs, and planning work galore waiting for the next generation of workers looking to make a difference in the fight against climate change and work with new technologies each day. Here, we hear from policymakers, installers, and government employees about their work and their journey to where they are today. In order for the true vision of electric vehicles to be integrated, the entire electric grid needs to be updated, which includes advanced battery incorporation and microgrids. Also featured here are contributors to the future of the microgrid, ensuring that communities will be able to have power even in the worst of circumstances.
