Abstract
The liver is an intraabdominal organ that has a range of functions in the body. It is divided into eight segments based on the Couinaud’s segmental scheme and receives blood from the hepatic artery and portal vein. The hepatic veins drain into the inferior vena cava. Diseases of the liver range from genetic enzyme deficiencies to liver failure, infections as well as benign and malignant primary and metastatic lesions. Each lesion has the characteristic imaging findings and management strategies, which are often the subject of much debate and controversy.
