Abstract
Gender affirmation surgery, also known as gender confirmation surgery or transgender surgery, refers to a variety of medical procedures that alter a person’s physical appearance and function to align with their gender identity. These procedures are an important step for transgender and non-binary individuals to fully express their gender and live congruently with their gender expression. In this chapter, we will discuss the differences between the male and female craniofacial skeleton and how those criteria are assessed for determining the appropriate facial gender affirmation procedures. Office-based procedures are discussed in detail, along with the potential risks and benefits of undergoing these surgical and non-surgical procedures.
