Abstract

Similar to global tendencies, the trend towards EMI has also been observed in the Middle East (Kirkgöz et al., 2023). This chapter presents a comprehensive overview of the studies related to the EMI policies of Middle East countries by referring to the perceptions of lecturers and students on the use of EMI. A study was also conducted in a state university within the Turkish context in order to crosscheck the local and regional findings. In addition, a discussion of the perceptions of lecturers and students, the perceived challenges, and recommended strategies to overcome those challenges is presented.
