Abstract
Thermal comfort has an important role in the daily life of students. Ensuring the thermal comfort of students is important in terms of productivity as well as health and well-being. However, although the predicted mean vote (PMV) values are in the thermal comfort range, the actual mean vote (AMV) values of students could be different. In order to understand this gap between the PMV and AMV values, a case study was conducted with students aged between 18 and 26 years in a student hall of the Engineering Faculty of a University in Turkey. A total of 648 subjective data was used, while PMV values were measured by a thermal comfort sensor. The results indicated that there is a significant difference between the AMV and the PMV for the Csb climate zone. The outcome of the study will benefit understanding the gap between the PMV and AMV of the students in a temperate climate zone.
