Abstract

Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) has rapidly developed worldwide as a convenient alternative to traditional computed tomography for imaging of bony structures of the maxillofacial region. However, most surgeons performing rhinoplasty are unfamiliar with it. CBCT or CT scan analysis before rhinoplasty could be useful for the pre-operative planning and the post-operative follow-up as well (Saban, CBCT before rhinoplasty, 2014; Sadri et al., Facial Plast Surg 36(3):329ā€“334, 2020; Robotti et al., Plast Reconstr Surg 147(5):749eā€“762e, 2021).

The analysis of the relevant slices enables us to improve surgical planning by helping the surgeon to choose the best rhinoplasty procedure or to identify the need for complementary maneuvers. Furthermore, CBCT or CT scan may be a good way of keeping relevant data in the medical record in addition to the pre-operative examination, photographs, and simulation.
