The Future of Nursing 2020-2030: Global Applications to Advance Health Equity

Abstract

Technological innovations are quickly changing the healthcare landscape. For nursing practice to keep pace, the future of nursing must include a focus on how to best position nurses to leverage new technologies and the data generated to influence care outcomes and reduce health disparities. This chapter will present the recommendations from the Future of Nursing 2020–2030 report related to technology and innovation within the context of current use cases and suggest future action.

Future of Nursing 2020–2030 recommendation 6:

All public and private healthcare systems should incorporate nursing expertise in designing, generating, analyzing, and applying data to support initiatives focused on social determinants of health and health equity using diverse digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and other innovative technologies.
