Abstract
During the emergency of the pandemic SARS-CoV-2, the need for much more ICU resources has been suggested to provide ventilatory support outside the ICU. However, some prerogatives are essentials to use hospital’s spaces outside the ICU: the necessity to have a trained staff in the use of NIV; the need to guarantee a negative pressure room; and a system that provides the possibility of prompt access to the ICU.
