Abstract

The cancer of the skin represents the most common worldwide malignance. One in every three diagnosed cancers is a skin cancer. Skin cancer includes melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer, in this group including basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Over the last decades, incidence of both groups has risen due to sun exposure, aging population, and more efficient and novel techniques in diagnosis. In both cases, risk factors include ultraviolet radiation, age, gender, inherited disease, immunosuppression, and previous history of skin cancer. Both skin cancer groups have better prognosis with early detection.
