Abstract
There are many treatment modalities in obstructive sleep apnea. Although the choice of treatment varies according to the patient and sleep apnea type, continuous positive airway pressure treatment is recommended to be the first choice in positive airway pressure treatment. Different device selections can be made in continuous positive airway pressure treatment failure or in some sleep apnea types. Of course, although all of these devices work similar to continuous positive airway pressure, they all have different operating principles and settings. Because the choice of device is extremely important for treatment success, it should be evaluated on a case-by-case. The main options used in the treatment of positive airway pressure include continuous positive airway pressure, auto-continuous positive airway pressure, bilevel positive airway pressure, auto-bilevel positive airway pressure, bilevel positive airway pressure-spontaneous/timed, average volume assured pressure support, and adaptive servo ventilator. Many companies have introduced widely used devices with additional features. In this chapter, the types and working principles of positive airway pressure devices used in obstructive sleep apnea will be discussed.
