Noninvasive Mechanical Ventilation

Abstract

Fitting the mask, selection of appropriate ventilator settings and patient coaching are of paramount importance to deliver noninvasive ventilation (NIV) in a safe and effective way. The skills of the caregivers and their degree of experience are essential for the success of the technique. The aim of close patient monitoring is to determine whether the initial goals are being achieved and to timely avert possible NIV failure.
