Abstract

The consequences of climate change are unavoidable, making adaptation actions more important than ever. The engagement of communities and civic participation is also essential in adaptation strategies, and part of that involves studying citizens’ perceptions of climate change. This chapter aims to understand and discuss how people's perceptions of climate change, mainly those belonging to rural and vulnerable communities, evolved over time and are important in designing adaptation strategies tailored to their local vulnerabilities and territorial contexts that may effectively increase climate change resilience to climate change.
