Abstract

In this chapter, we explore the conceptualization and development of electrochemical devices modification with metallic nanostructures, as well as the most relevant results regarding applications of biosensors for the determination of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), that contains these metallic particles. Some procedures and trends, new metallic nanostructures, biological species immobilization methods, and applications are described. Furthermore, the employment of these devices for SARS-CoV-2 determination and their advantages, as well as what perspectives are left to investigate in this area, are discussed in detail.
