Abstract

After the negative impact of the disaster on a community or a nation, resilience helps people to come back to the previous level of functioning. The objective of this work was to explore resilience in the Pakistani nation which faced so many odds in the past. The aim was to find how rapidly Pakistan recovered from different disasters that happened in the form of the disintegration of the country in 1971, a huge wave of terrorism including the terrorist attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar city, the issue of Kashmir and tension along the eastern and the western border. To examine the factors and to find the level of resilience, a few significant events were selected to discuss how this nation responded and fought back with the minimum available resources of the country. The results showed that people in Pakistan have great resilience while responding very well against natural and man-made disasters, political instability, and conspiracies of hostile/unfriendly countries. The study is significant to find the reasons for high resilience in Pakistani nation and to take measures to further strengthen this positive attitude.
