Zusammenfassung

Weltweit müssen außerordentlich viele Frauen unter sexuellen Übergriffen und Diskriminierungen leiden. Diese Situation liegt unter anderem in der Stellung der Geschlechter und einer entsprechend patriarchalischen Struktur verankert. Die weibliche Genitalverstümmelung (FGM/C) ist leider eine solche Praxis, die tief in traditionellen Verhaltensweisen verwurzelt ist, um die Sexualität der Frau zu kontrollieren. Aus medizinisch-humanitärer Sicht ist FGM/C daher auch in der heutigen Zeit eine der größten Bürden des weiblichen Geschlechts mit kultureller Verankerung, welche abgeschafft werden muss.
