Zusammenfassung
Open-Source-Medizinprodukte (OSMDs) sind dank Fortschritten bei computergestützten Design-, Simulations- und Fertigungssoftwareressourcen (CAD-CAE-CAM), Fortschritten in der Fertigungstechnologie, einschließlich des Aufkommens flexibler Produktionssysteme und der additiven Fertigung, sowie Verbesserungen in der medizinischen Bildgebungstechnologie und der entsprechenden Verarbeitungssoftware entstanden. All diese parallelen Innovationen haben die Personalisierung von Medizinprodukten und ihre kostengünstige und schnelle Herstellung ermöglicht, wobei in vielen Fällen werkzeuglose Verfahren eingesetzt werden. Sie machen auch den Entwurf und die Herstellung komplex geformter Geometrien, wie sie in vielen Fällen für die Interaktion mit dem menschlichen Körper erforderlich sind, technisch und wirtschaftlich realisierbar. Darüber hinaus haben sich in den letzten Jahrzehnten Computermodellierungstools immer weiter verbreitet und eine Fülle von recht preisgünstigen Designressourcen, Bildgebungswerkzeugen und Fertigungssystemen entwickelt, darunter viele Arten von additiven Fertigungstechnologien, die eine unkomplizierte Konstruktion und Fertigung unter Verwendung einer bemerkenswerten Vielfalt von Polymeren, Keramiken, Legierungen und Biomaterialien ermöglichen, die sich in vielen Fällen für medizinische Zwecke eignen. Dieses Kapitel befasst sich mit den wichtigsten Technologien und Methoden für die Personalisierung von OSMD, wobei besonderes Augenmerk gelegt wird auf verfügbare Open-Source- und frei zugängliche Designsoftware, computergestützte Modellierungstools, Hardware und Software für die medizinische Bildgebung und damit verbundene kostengünstige Fertigungstechnologien.
