Abstract
Fasciocutaneous (FC) free flaps have become a first-line reconstructive option for patients that undergo pharyngeal resection. With failure rates of less than 2%, FC free flaps provide a reliable reconstruction option. With these patients having an overall poor prognosis, it is important to attempt to restore both form and function with a minimal number of operations. FC free flaps have shown to be effective with a majority of patients being able to return to intelligible speech and oral diet.
