Abstract
The Abbe flap is one of several reconstructive techniques for moderately sized lip defects of significant tissue loss. The Abbe flap is a “lip-switch” flap in which a portion of the uninvolved opposite lip is rotated across the mouth and into the defect of the involved lip with its preserved blood supply. In contrast to the Estlander flap, the Abbe flap is useful when defects of the lip do not involve the oral commissure.
