Abstract

Flap repairs of the lateral cheek have the advantage that the scars are commonly not visible on frontal view. Furthermore, there is often significantly more available laxity in the lateral and buccal regions. Defects lateral to the lateral canthus also have less impact on lower eyelid position upon closure. A rhombic flap reconstruction can take advantage of the buccal laxity for the repair of defects 3 cm or less.
