Abstract

The temporoparietal fascial flap (TPFF) is a 2–4 mm thick fascial flap based on the superficial temporal artery and vein with multiple possible applications. Characteristics of the flap include its robust vascular supply, ability to accept skin grafts, large surface area, thinness, and pliability. It can be harvested as a pedicled flap or microvascular free tissue transfer. In addition, it can also be harvested as a composite flap with the overlying skin, temporalis muscle, and/or underlying bone. While its reconstructive use has been reported for multiple sites including the outer ear, scalp, various facial subunits such as the periorbit and cheek, oral cavity, oropharynx, nasopharynx, skull-base, and extremities, this chapter will focus on its use as a regional pedicled fascial flap for the reconstruction of lateral forehead and temple defects.
