Abstract
The combination of disruptions to journalism, news delivery, political campaigning, individuals, and partisanship all culminate in a larger whole to have implications for democratic government. Increasing tribal identities not only inflame negative partisanship, but also impact social capital such as trust in others, or in government. Lower trust creates an implicit threat to democracy.
