Marie Curie is the most famous natural scientist in world history and her name is inextricably linked with the history of radioactivity. By contrast, the name of another woman who made an equally significant contribution to the understanding of this field of physics at almost the same time remains virtually unknown to the general public today. This was Lise Meitner.
