Zusammenfassung
Internationale groß angelegte Vergleiche haben mit der Schwierigkeit zu kämpfen, die Standardisierung aufrechtzuerhalten, um den Vergleich zu erleichtern, und gleichzeitig lokal in verschiedenen Kontexten relevant und aussagekräftig zu sein. Diese Studie untersucht die Praktiken, die mit der Bewältigung dieser scheinbar widersprüchlichen Aufgaben verbunden sind, namentlich anhand einer empirischen Fallstudie über die Anpassung des Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) durch die OECD, um es in Form von PISA for Development (PISA-D) für einkommensschwache Länder relevant zu machen. Situiertes Wissen, politische Entscheidungen, sozio-materielle Praktiken, subjektive Interpretationen und kulturelle Vorstellungen werden in die Bewältigung der Spannung zwischen Standardisierung und Kontextualisierung einbezogen. Lokale Kontexte werden tiefgreifend „rekontextualisiert“, um der globalen Praxis zu entsprechen, und umgekehrt müssen globale Praktiken angepasst und Kompromisse gefunden werden, um die Standardisierung sowohl aus der Ferne als auch im Hier und Jetzt zu bewältigen.
