Abstract
In this chapter, we will explore some unconventional sources of energy that are not directly obtained from sunlight. At first, the nighttime energy sources are discussed to convey how energy can be obtained when the sunlight is absent. Next, lunar power is introduced, discussing how the Moon can be utilized for our energy requirements. Then, the vast domain of energy storage systems is briefly presented for the readers to acquaint themselves with the various energy storage systems available. The concepts of combined heat and power, and daylight saving are also included in this chapter. After that, the chapter talks about hydrogen fuel and electric vehicles in sufficient detail. Thereafter, the present state-of-the-art of the artificial sun and artificial photosynthesis is discussed. The final topic of this chapter is geothermal energy, which is a type of renewable energy not sourced from the Sun. By reading this chapter, a reader can learn about numerous dimensions of interesting energy sources that do not originate from the Sun.
