Abstract
Schools are a primary provider of mental health services, and school-based treatment unquestionably increases access to care for many young people. However, the increased access is combined with certain implementation challenges that must be addressed for the successful application of evidence-based treatments (EBTs). In this chapter, we describe our implementation of a transdiagnostic, modular treatment, called Modular Approach to Therapy for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Traumatic Stress or Conduct Problems (MATCH), which was designed for flexibility and personalization—attributes that may be helpful in addressing some of the challenges of school-based care. We describe both opportunities and challenges we have encountered when implementing MATCH in schools, and we note several lessons learned during the project that may help inform future efforts to implement transdiagnostic, modular treatments in schools.
