EU-MERCOSUR Interregionalism

Abstract

The regional integration history is a common history between European, Latin American and the Caribbean countries, its regional integration processes and regional organisations were created parallelly on both sides of the Atlantic. These historical facts developed political ties on which cooperation mechanisms were created on all levels: political, economic, social, cultural and global governance levels. The chapter examines the EU-LAC interregionalism history from a diplomatic perspective, analysing all official documents as reports, memorandum understanding, agreements and joint statements between both. At the same time, study the State of Art of the bi-regional dialogue between the EU-LAC countries and conceptualise the EU’s external actions to LAC regional integration organisations.
