Abstract
There are other better-known cases of unethical behavior by founders, in recent years most notably with Uber and Theranos. This chapter discusses issues that have arisen in our case study firms as they have sought to create and sustain an ethical tech startup. Management must also continually keep in mind that they have ethical responsibilities not only to corporate shareholders but also to employees, customers, and competitors, and to society as a whole.
Technology is neither good nor bad; nor is it neutral.
