Abstract
This chapter introduces the book. By clarifying the concept of professional supervision in professional social work, it will discuss the motivation and rationale for writing this book. Further, nine types of supervision and their purposes, features, and limitations are summarized, and the roles that professional bodies play in professional supervision are discussed. The book’s objectives, outcomes to be achieved, and research methods followed are briefly stated. The chapter ends by introducing the 13 chapters of the book.
